The Haemophilia Society is the only national and independent organisation for all people affected by bleeding disorders. The Society is led by affected people and works in close partnership with the NHS. We provide information and support for all people affected by bleeding disorder and represent their interests.

The Society was established in 1950 and has over 7,000 members and supporters with a network of 16 local groups across the UK.

All -

As an FYI, there is a TERRIFIC group in the United States called the "Hemophilia Federation of America" - HFA.

This organization is a GRASS ROOTS oriented group that works on behalf of ALL people with Bleeding Disorders. HFA is quite simply the BEST damn group of people around!!!

They hold Annual Meetings where people from all walks of life, from all corners of the bleeding disorders groups, as well as from all over the globe, come together and BOND over a 3 day weekend retreat. There are discussions ranging from women with bleeding disorders, kids w/BD, families with BD (incl. vWD) as well as numerous programs for kids, teens as well as Dad's and, of course, Blood Brothers!

I would ask and hope that perhaps HFA can be a resource for all of you, if you include them on all your web searches related to ANYTHING Hemophilia! Perhaps we can find a way to make the UK contingent Welcome at the next HFA meeting in 2011!?!?!??? Start looking at the website and planning a trip!

All the best, and as always, of anyone has questions be sure to contact me at: Factor8man@yahoo.com

Cheers!

Axel
